"These five rings -- blue, yellow, black, green and red -- represent the five parts of the world now encompassed by Olympism and ready to compete against each other. Moreover, the six colours (including the white background) thus combined represent those of all nations, without exception. The blue and yellow of Sweden, the blue and white of Greece, the French, English, American, German, Belgian, Italian and Hungarian tricolours, the yellow and red of Spain are side by side with the new Brazilian and Australian flags, the old Japan and the new China. It is a true international emblem."


Coubertin (Selected Writings II, p. 460, 1913).


As an image of Olympism, Coubertin thought the rings had deep significance: that of the union between men. He multiplied the image to create a total of five rings. He designed and commissioned the Olympic flag to mark the 20th anniversary of the IOC's founding, on 23rd June 1914 in Paris. Coubertin never said nor wrote that he saw a link between the colours of the rings and the continents. For him, the five rings represented the union of the five continents, but the colours were merely those that appeared in all the different national flags at the time.

Squeezing your client pyramid for maximum profit...

 

Squeezing PyramidsWe believe that in order to maintain the highest level of profitability, service providers should seek technology-strategic and technology-dependent clients. Technology-strategic clients are those who view technology spending as strategic investments in their organizations to give them a competitive advantage in their markets, and technology-dependent clients, while not being quite as strategic, depend on technology so heavily to run their businesses that they realize they must invest in it.


These clients appreciate being introduced to new solutions that will increase efficiencies and productivity, alleviate business pain and risk, and improve their bottom line. They also actively work towards building a long-lasting relationship with their Trusted Advisor, whom they see as a business partner with their best interests in mind, as opposed to just another vendor.


These clients are also most likely to maintain budgets for technology, or are open to creating them, and allowing their Trusted Advisor to guide them through spending it wisely, secure in the fact that they will make better decisions with an experienced resource to lead them. 


 

We had numerous clients paying us a small amount of money making up the bottom third - the widest part of the pyramid. In the middle third of the pyramid we had a much smaller amount of clients paying us more money than the bottom third. Finally, the top third of the pyramid was comprised of a very small amount of clients paying us the most money...
